Find out which sign the Moon is in today. Along with the signs, or separate from them, the phases of the Moon were used to determine the most propitious times for various activities: weaning a baby, planting certain vegetables, quitting smoking, making sauerkraut-you name it. This was similar to how we include astrology pages in every edition-after each sign is a body part: Virgo, belly Sagittarius, thighs Capricorn, knees, and so forth.Įarly Almanac readers were very familiar with “The Man of Signs.” Before someone had a diseased arm bled, for instance, he or she wanted to be sure that the Moon was located in Gemini (Gemini is in charge of the arms). The general public tends to have a very shallow understanding of modern western spirituality. I have no qualms against telling a different sign that they need to save money each week, but I do feel apprehensive about writing about each sign’s love advice. In astrology, Venus rules over the second and seventh houses of money and love respectively. I will close my thesaurus in order to tell you that, in simple terms, I do not enjoy writing about Venus in my weekly horoscopes. The insipidity of this week’s celestial motion nearly tempts me toward the sweet embrace of slumber, until - hark! Something wicked this way comes: Venus has a transit this week. ![]() Despite my heavy eyelids, I steadily observe the phases of the moon, the next Mercury retrograde phase and the upcoming sun sign ingress. As I consult the source of infinite wisdom,, I transcribe each planetary transit into my open Google document. The results came back: stage 3 osteosarcoma. Over the next week I saw three physicians, including an oral surgeon, all of whom assured me that my dentist was correct. He explained lumps like that were common in women my age and I shouldn’t worry about it. Some months earlier I’d noticed a small lump in my jaw and mentioned it to my dentist. Mars was in the Vedic constellation Shatabhishak, which rules the jaw. I’m no master astrologer, but I know a potentially deadly planetary transit when I see one. Mars, it turned out, was right on my Ascendant degree, the most critical point in my Vedic horoscope-and was going to stay there for three weeks. Out of curiosity, I pulled out a book of planetary tables to see where the malefic planet was situated in the sky. The TV newscaster reported that Mars was the closest to Earth it had been in thousands of years. It was the moment I realized I had cancer. 4/13/2024 0 Comments Jupiter planet meaning astrology![]() Unlike the planets closer to the Sun, which have relatively fast orbits, the outer planets have longer journeys … and thus longer cycles. ![]() Jupiter is the first planet on the far side of the asteroid belt, which classifies it as an outer planet. And in your birth chart - you know, that map of the sky from the exact time and place that you were born? - the placement of Jupiter can reveal hidden talents, unexpected gifts, or even incredible opportunities. In astrology, Jupiter, that massive planet with that big ol’ red spot that’s been swirling on its side for a couple of centuries, is associated with luck, expansion, and abundance. Read on to find out what to expect when the largest planet in our solar system starts cruising in reverse. In fact, all planets experience retrograde cycles. Anyway, that’s for another time!) But retrograde isn’t just relegated to Mercury. ![]() (In astrology, Mercury is associated with communication, travel, transportation, and technology, so it does make sense that Mercury’s backward glide would wreak havoc on our daily routines, but there’s more to it than that. When you read “retrograde,” your mind probably goes to Mercury, the planet that undergoes a notorious reversal three to four times each year - and becomes a too-convenient scapegoat for all the chaos in our lives.
